The Stark Museum of Art is pleased to announce its first annual College Juried Art Exhibition. The exhibition will feature original works of art from college and university students in Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana. The exhibition will be held October 8, 2022 – January 8, 2023 in the Community Art Gallery at the Stark Museum of Art. The exhibition is open to all students currently enrolled in a college or university located in Orange County, TX, Jefferson County, TX, or Calcasieu Parish, LA.
The College Juried Art Exhibition will be juried by staff at the Stark Museum of Art. Awards for the College Juried Art Exhibition are sponsored by Blick Art Materials. Three Awards will be selected by the staff juror. The Best of Show award winner will receive a $300 gift certificate to Blick Art Materials. Two Honorable Mention awards will be given, and each recipient will receive a $100 gift certificate to Blick Art Materials.
Trina Nelson Thomas, Executive Director shares, “We’re excited to expand the juried student experience to area college and university students. This program ties to the heart of Museum education – art-making and creativity are alive and well in our region.”
“Our College Juried Art Exhibition program has been developed in collaboration with local colleges and universities, and it is the first of its kind in our region. I am extremely grateful to our colleagues at Lamar State College Orange, Lamar University, and McNeese State University who have eagerly supported this exhibition program’s development,” comments Jennifer Dickinson, Director, Education.
Entries for the exhibition must be dropped off to the Stark Museum of Art located at 712 Green Avenue, Orange, TX, between Thursday, September 29, 2022 and Saturday, October 1, 2022 between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Guidelines for submission and registration forms are available for download from starkmuseum.org.
An opening for the College Juried Art Exhibition will be held in conjunction with the opening for “A Noble Pastime: Hunting Pictures from the Sarah Campbell Blaffer Foundation” on Thursday, October 6, 2022 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Award winners for the College Juried Art Exhibition will be announced during the reception.
