The Art Studio, Inc. is set to host its annual themed fundraiser “The Beaux Arts Ball” on January 22, 2022 from 7pm until midnight. The event, which will feature food, performances, and a silent auction, will take place inside the non-profit’s facility at 720 Franklin St. in Downtown Beaumont. The theme for this year is “The Renaissance”.

“We try to choose the themes based on art movements or familiar popular aesthetics,” said event co-chair Olivia Busceme. “We felt like 2022 should be the perfect time to celebrate ‘rebirth’ with all that’s gone on since our last Beaux Arts Ball. It’s not only about art, it’s also about community, which is why The Art Studio is so special.”

The annual event was canceled in 2021 in light of the pandemic. TASI has returned to hosting regular live events this fall after over a year of relying on virtual art exhibitions.

“Some events, like our monthly Band Nite, don’t translate as successfully into the virtual realm. We have been so looking forward to once again gathering face to face with our friends and enjoying some revelry and camaraderie in this exciting setting. Partying is our favorite way to raise funds.”

Sponsors for the 2022 event include Texas Coffee Company, Lamar University Foundation, Regina Rogers, Amelia Farm & Market, and JWilson’s.

Artists and collectors are donating artwork to be auctioned off for the fundraiser as well. A silent auction will take place from 7pm until 10pm during the event.

“Local art patrons shall have the privilege to place bids on our excellent salon of artists” TASI assistant curator Michelle Cate said. “We are proud to have a wide variety of art up for auction at the Beaux Arts Ball by artists such as Paul Manes, Jane Silvernail, Anna Myers, Lynn Sweat, Andy Coughlan, and Larry Leach.”

All funds raised at the Beaux Arts Ball will go toward maintaining the operating costs of the organization.

“TASI relies on grants, donations, and sponsorships to continue our operations, that’s why we’re so grateful to all our wonderful patrons and supporters for allowing us to continue providing exhibitions and workshops as well as helping us make improvements to our campus”

Attendees are invited to interpret the theme with their costume, or simply dress in cocktail attire.

“We love to see what people show up wearing to these events each year, especially since the theme is always so different,” Busceme said. “Some people are comfortable dressing low key while others take advantage of the chance to play it up and come up with wild and inventive styles. It is truly the Met Gala of Southeast Texas, except everyone is welcome to join in the fun.”

Tickets can be purchased in advance for $50 from The Art Studio, Inc. or online at brownpapertickets.com. Admission on the night of the event will be $75 per person. For more info visit www.artstudio.org.
