Ready, Set, Stage! at AMSET’s FREE Family Arts Day

The Art Museum of Southeast Texas (AMSET) hosts Ready, Set, Stage! Free Family Arts Day 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., on Saturday, May 19, 2018.

Children and their families will participate in art activities including Gator Biters – an alligator craft, Crown Cookies – decorate your own cookies with icing and sprinkles, Critter Masks – assemble a mask resembling your favorite animal, Set and Stage Photobooth – stage your very own movie set where parents can take photos of their children, Make-Your-Own Masterpiece – children will emulate large paintings by Artist Shaun Roberts, Crowns Fit for Royalty – children will create crowns resembling the crowns featured in Anthony Sonnenberg’s exhibition. Activities are inspired by AMSET’s current exhibitions, Shaun Roberts: Rebels and Renegades and Anthony Sonnenberg: Still Stage, Set Life.

Join soprano and storyteller Hope Shiver in King Rhythm, a journey through African American History.  Children can participate in the performances with costumes and acting out the roles of beloved characters.  These live performances are at 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. in AMSET’s Lecture Hall.  Complimentary punch will be served.  A concession stand serving ballpark-style food will be available, as well as free face painting.  Throughout the day, AMSET will draw winners for art supply baskets and gift cards.

Admission to this event is free and open to the public and located at 500 Main Street in downtown Beaumont.  For more information, visit amset.org or call (409) 832-3432.
