A hands-on course for students 12 years old and up which enables them to begin a critical understanding of the art of acting and the prospects of a career in the theatre. Acting terminology and methods of script analysis are introduced through participatory warm ups, pair work, structured improvisations and the performance of scripted scenes and/or monologues. Subjects will include exploration of given circumstances, objectives and obstacles, emotional memory and character development.
Taught by BCP’s new Executive Director John Manfredi, a member of Actors’ Equity Association, the Screen Actors Guild, the American Guild of Musical Artists and an experienced educator that has been a faculty member at Oakland University, The Hillberry Theatre, the University of Detroit as well serving as the Educational Coordinator for the Creative Arts Center of Oakland County.
